How Air-Seal® Works

Air-Seal® is a revolutionary tyre sealant that coats the inside of your tyre, creating a self-sealing barrier that works continuously while you drive. When a puncture occurs, the sealant instantly and permanently plugs the hole, without damaging the tyre or wheel rim, so you can keep moving without interruption. What does Air-Seal® tyre sealant do?

Air-Seal® is a preventative and repair solution that seals punctures as they occur, significantly reducing flat tyres and downtime. In many cases, it can reduce punctures by up to 90% or more.

How does Air-Seal® work?

As the tyre rotates, the sealant spreads evenly inside. When a puncture occurs, internal air pressure forces fibres and fillers into the hole, forming a durable, airtight seal, often within seconds.

What makes Air-Seal® tyre sealant so effective?

Air-Seal® combines advanced fibres, specialised fillers, and a stable liquid suspension:

Fibres form the backbone of the seal, sealing quickly and permanently, even in thinner tyres like ATVs, golf buggies, and lawn equipment.
Fillers lock into the fibre network to create a strong, airtight seal.
Suspension stability ensures the components remain evenly mixed for consistent, long-term performance over the life of the tyre.

What size punctures can it seal?

Air-Seal® can typically seal punctures in the tread area up to around 13mm–30mm, depending on the product type and application.

Can Air-Seal® be used in any tyre?

Air‑Seal® is intended for use only in approved tyre types.

Do not use in damaged, improperly repaired, or excessively worn tyres.

Always inspect tyres and wheels before installation, sealant is not a substitute for safe, roadworthy tyres.

Is the repair permanent?

Yes. The combination of fibres and fillers creates a long-lasting internal seal that remains effective for the life of the tyre under normal conditions.

Does Air-Seal® eliminate all punctures?

While no sealant can prevent every possible tyre issue, Air-Seal® significantly reduces punctures and tyre failures, improving safety, uptime, and operational efficiency.

Why is using the correct amount of Air-Seal® critical?

Overfilling or underfilling Air‑Seal® may cause wheel imbalance, vibration in the steering wheel.

Always use the recommended quantity for the tyre size and application.

Adding more or less sealant than specified will not improve puncture protection and may negatively impact ride quality.

Can Air-Seal® be used in harsh or off-road conditions?

Yes. Air-Seal® is specifically designed for high-demand, harsh environments. It is NATO-tested and approved, performing reliably in extreme conditions, including military operations, rugged terrain, mining, and heavy-duty industrial applications. In severe environments where punctures occur more frequently, additional sealant may be recommended.

Do temperature or conditions affect performance?

Extreme temperatures can affect sealant flow characteristics.

Allow sufficient driving time after installation for sealant to fully distribute inside the tyre.

Vehicles placed into service immediately without distribution may experience temporary imbalance.

Does Air-Seal® repair all types of tyre damage?

Air‑Seal® does not repair sidewall damage, punctures beyond 15mm, cuts or structural tyre failure.

If air loss continues after installation, remove the tyre and repair or replace it immediately.

What installation mistakes should be avoided?

Failure to remove valve cores before injection
Incorrect injection pressure or method
Not rotating the tyre after installation to distribute sealant evenly
Installing into tyres with existing large punctures, casing damage, or bead leaks
These errors can reduce performance or cause imbalance.

Is professional installation recommended?

While Air‑Seal® can be installed as a DIY application, professional installation is strongly recommended, particularly for:

Heavy Highway vehicles
Fleet applications
High‑speed or heavy‑load use
Commercial and Truck Tyres

What should I do after installation?

After installing Air-Seal®, drive the vehicle to ensure the sealant spreads evenly throughout the tyre. This helps it form an effective seal and provides maximum protection.

Does Air-Seal® require maintenance or removal?

Sealant can be cleaned away from the tyre injury and repaired without the removal of Air-Seal® product.
Failure to follow correct clean‑out procedures may affect future tyre servicing or balancing.
It can be washed out with water.

Do tyres still need maintenance?

Yes. Regular tyre checks are recommended:

Inspect tyres weekly (or daily in harsh conditions)
Remove puncturing objects promptly
Maintain correct tyre pressure
Driving immediately after removing objects helps the sealant reseal effectively.

Do tyres still need balancing after installing Air-Seal®?

Yes. Especially for high-speed or on-road vehicles, conventional wheel balancing may still be required to ensure optimal performance.

Can Air-Seal® cause vibration or imbalance?

Tyres should be professionally balanced prior to installation of Air-Seal

Incorrect installation, uneven distribution, or insufficient/excessive sealant may result in vibration at certain speeds.

If vibration occurs, stop operation and have the tyre inspected by a qualified technician.

Wheels cannot be conventionally balanced after product is installed. especially for high‑speed or on‑road applications.

With the correct quantity installed it will naturally balance as it spins.

What if a puncture doesn’t seal?

Common reasons include:

Insufficient sealant in the tyre
Damage to sidewalls or large tears
Punctures beyond product limits
Valve leaks or incorrect tyre setup
Objects left in the tyre for extended periods

What’s required for installing DIY Air-Seal® Heavy Duty?

Installing Air-Seal® is quick and straightforward when the correct amount is used. The Air-Seal® 4 Litre Heavy-Duty DIY Kit includes:

Attachable pump and tube for easy installation into your tyre
Valve core tool and installation tubing
Air-Seal® sealant (bottles or kit)
Air compressor or foot pump to re-inflate the tyre

Air-Seal® is non-hazardous (non-acidic, non-caustic, VOC-free) but avoid contact with eyes or ingestion. For guidance on correct amounts, refer to the application chart or contact the Air-Seal® team.

How much Air-Seal® should I use?

The correct amount depends on tyre size and application. For accurate measurements, download the Air-Seal® Metric Application Chart. Using the recommended quantity ensures maximum effectiveness and long-lasting protection.

Is Air-Seal® tyre sealant toxic?

No. Air-Seal® is non-toxic, fire retardant, and flame retardant. It contains around 40% water, which helps dissipate heat and improves tyre performance. Standard handling precautions—avoiding eye contact or ingestion, should still be followed.
